March Break Science & Engineering Camp

Please note that we take the health and safety of our Science Engagement Programs community very seriously. Towards that end and under the guidance of the University, we regret to inform you that we must cancel this year’s March Break Camp.

We have made this decision in the context of the rapidly evolving circumstance of the COVID-19 virus. With an abundance of caution, we feel that the best way to minimize the risk to our campers and our community is to cancel the March Break Camp for this year.

We hope that you and your family remain safe and healthy during this period and hope to see your camper soon.

If you have any questions or concerns about the program, please email us at or call 416-736-2100 x44552.

  • Utilize the engineering design process and work in teams to construct a catapult;
  • Extract and view DNA from strawberries and bananas;
  • Investigate how water moves in plants by creating your own colourful carnation;
  • Save your egg astronaut by building them a device to safely land back to Earth unharmed;
  • and more!

Intermediate Science & Engineering (Grade 5/6)

  • Explore structural engineering by designing and building a rollercoaster;
  • Investigate natural selection and biodiversity with Darwin’s finches;
  • Challenge your chemical and technical skills to devise the best bubble making machine;

1. Online: All registration is to be completed online using our online system. Your spot will be reserved upon receipt of payment.
2. After-Camp Care: We offer extended care from 5:00 to 6:00pm for an additional $30 for the entire week.

Daily Schedule

A typical day consists of 2 to 4 experiments and activities. There are two 15-minute breaks (morning and afternoon) and lunch is between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm.

Lunch is not provided, and will be held indoors. We recommend using ice packs for your child's lunch, as we do not have the facilities to refrigerate lunches.

Allergies are an increasing concern, particularly nut allergies. We do implement a nut-safe lunch policy for the safety of our campers. We ask that you pack nut-free lunches for all campers.

Before and After Camp Care

All of our camps are one week in length. Camp runs Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with free before- and after-camp care. Drop-off is from 8:00am to 9:00am, and pick-up is between 4:00pm and 5:00pm.

Extended after-care from 5:00 pm to 6:00pm is available for a fee of $30 per week. We ask parents to arrive at extended after-care on time.

Before- and after-camp care is supervised, unscheduled time. Science magazines, books, puzzles, and games are available for campers.

Financial Assistance

We offer Financial Assistance for Science Engagement Programs, when funding is available. Applications for financial assistance are due on February 10, 2020.
